Innovation 7 is growing and seeking a financial administrator to join its team of amazing consultants in our new office space in Pikwakanagan. Innovation 7 (I7) is a 100% First Nation-owned management consulting firm that specializes in Indigenous engagement services, housing advisory, and complex infrastructure and alternative financing solutions. Position: Financial Administrator

Job Status:: 6-month term with potential for permanent

Schedule: Part-time, 21-28 hours/week

Reports to: President and Finance Manager

Pay rate: $20-$22/hour

Financial Administrator responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Preparing bi-monthly payroll
  • Administration of the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Contract Administration functions
  • Processing periodic statutory reporting (H.S.T., WSIB, EHT)
  • Maintain various financial management reports (cash flow projections, contract balance reporting, revenue projections)
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining month-end/year-end working papers
  • Providing business support to senior management (project profitability reporting)
  • Directly support project managers (tracking and reporting on project-related spending)
  • Provide administrative assistance as needed


Qualifications and skill requirements:

  • Must have a post-secondary diploma or certificate in accounting or finance
  • A minimum of 3-years work experience in a role as an accountant/bookkeeper/financial administrator
  • Excellent time-management and computer skills including Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced skills in Excel i.e., basic pivot tables)
  • Hands-on experience with accounting, timekeeping, and payroll applications i.e., Quickbooks, TSheets, ADP
  • Must be trustworthy, dependable, work independently and with a team
  • Must have excellent English verbal and written communication
  • Have or be able to qualify for Government Security Clearance within 4 months of hire
  • Must have (2) positive reference checks
  • Due to the nature of this position applicants will be required to pass a credit and criminal background check


  • Preference will be given to those applicants who:
    • self-identify as a First Nations, Metis, or Inuit person
  • have a University Degree or College Certificate with a major in Finance and/or Accounting
  • are familiar with ISC 2018/19 Reporting Guidelines
  • have an ability in the local First Nations language and/or in French
