Job description

Innovation Seven (I7) is looking for Indigenous professionals, Independent Consultants, with experience in facilitation and training to deliver Indigenous programs to our clients. While remote opportunities are still on the horizon, as we transition back to in-person engagement and consultation we are looking for local facilitators to contract with us across Ontario.

We are seeking Indigenous Facilitators and Trainers who:

  1. Understand Indigenous engagement and consultation
  2. Broadly understands Indigenous issues in Canada, including land and treaty rights
  3. Are experienced in organizing, leading, coordinating, and directing meetings/events
  4. Are a dynamic/engaging facilitator/trainer
  5. Are available for remote and/or in-person local engagements
  6. Have secret clearance or the ability to qualify

Job requirements

Indigenous Trainers and Facilitators, qualifications and attributes include:

  • Must have some understanding of engagement and consultation with Indigenous people and communities
  • Excellent writing, verbal communication skills and presentation skills (English and/or French)
  • Experience engaging directly with Indigenous leaders, influencers and staff is preferred
  • Must be familiar with Indigenous culture and knowledge
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience is preferred,
  • Have or be able to qualify for Government Security Clearance at the Secret level
  • Experience working with or for the provincial or federal government is an asset
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office, MS Teams, and Zoom
  • Preference will be given to those applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit
  • Please highlight locality and availability for in-person meetings in major urban centers across territories, such as: Robinson – Superior (Thunder Bay), Robinson – Huron (North Bay/Sudbury), Treaty 9 (Timmins/Moose Factory), and Treaty 3 (Kenora).
